A Letter from Our Rabbi

I remember vividly, over fifteen years ago, driving into Miami for the first time, and pointing out our Brickell apartment to my husband and young children. Coming from New York City, with grounded roots in Jewish community and Jewish education, I wondered with anticipation what Central Miami would offer my growing family.

I grew up in an active congregation that had a sanctuary filled with children and a JCC where I both swam several times a week and participated in musical theater. I wanted this for my children, but quickly learned that such a chavura didn’t exist in our immediate area in Central Miami.

Since then, our Jewish community has grown significantly. The result is that we have a Jewish population that can be engaged by and can support an inclusive and welcoming community-centered project. We have a need.

From this need, the idea of The Center for Jewish Life was born. Through the work of community leaders, architects, experts, and an array of volunteers, we have designed a center that will be an extraordinary place for learning, gathering, and faith.

I hope that you are as excited as I am to see The Center for Jewish Life come alive and that you will find ways to support this project, financially and otherwise. Building it together, we will create a space that will support our community now, and for generations to come.

Many Thanks,

Rabbi Julie Jacobs
