Amy and David Scharlin Host Intimate Gathering

At the beginning of April, members of our community gathered at Amy and David Scharlin’s beautiful home to learn more about The Center for Jewish Life, a project meant to inspire, nurture, and unite our community.

“The Center for Jewish Life is about helping find what it is that we all share, where we differ, what we can learn, perhaps respect, perhaps disagree on, and sit under the same tent as Jews,” said attendee Julie Rosenfeld.

After a warm welcome from the hosts and an update from Rabbi Julie Jacobs, Campaign Chair Karen Coppa showcased the Arquitectonica renderings, discussing how multipurpose spaces can lead to multi-generational participation, conversation, and discovery. Program Committee Chair Mitch Chefitz expanded on these ideas by exploring how The Center’s upcoming programming will include transformative courses for people of all ages.

The Center aims to be a magnet for Miami’s diverse community - a place where all generations can share a communal space, practice a thoughtful relationship with Judaism, and explore an array of cultural experiences, customs, and traditions. It will serve as a place for education, fitness, and spirituality, all under one roof.

“The Center represents what Miami looks like and where our community is going in the future,” summed up Julie Rosenfeld.

We are incredibly grateful that the Scharlins hosted a wonderful night full of robust conversation about this exciting project. If you are interested in sharing the news about The Center and want to host a parlor meeting with us, please contact info@centerforjewishlifemiami.org or 305-850-6880.
