Our Mission

The Center for Jewish Life is the pluralistic Jewish institution for our Miami community. The world is in a constant state of change and evolution and Judaism is no different. The Center is a revolutionary model of pluralistic Jewish communal life and living.

The members and leadership of Beth David Congregation recognized its crucial role in linking our Jewish community’s past to the Jewish world of the future. At the Center, we embrace all denominational voices, practices, and lifestyles, helping individuals and families find personal meaning and joy in a vast, complex, and quickly evolving contemporary Jewish world. Through Jewish values and traditions, we cultivate relationships, inspire personal growth, nurture the development of our children, and offer lasting, meaningful, and relevant experiences for everyone.

Being part of a kehillah — a community — is an essential element of Jewish identity. We pray together, learn together, and flourish together. Through these communal actions, we meet the most basic of human needs — to belong.

The Center for Jewish Life is such a kehillah — an important hub for the entire Central Miami community. The Center is a home-base for Jewish communal life and living. However an individual chooses to connect to their definition of Jewish identity, we are here to offer innovative and exciting programming and classes to explore the depth and wonder of Jewish tradition, texts, and practices. We gather socially, come together in prayer, contemplate in meditation, offer spiritual practices, groups and cohorts, and proudly house the Gordon School, and the Tikvah Center pioneering radical new approaches to K-5 Jewish education. Our Center will eventually also include extensive athletic facilities, and adaptable meeting spaces, so that everything from a pick-up game of basketball to the celebration of life’s important rites of passage can take place in one accommodating location.

While proudly Jewish, The Center will be open to all of our neighbors, regardless of faith. In addition, The Center will include an endowment in order to ensure that it can always grow to meet the changing needs of the community.
