About the Center

The Center for Jewish Life fulfills the needs of the Central Miami community through three distinct areas:

Education

Founded in 1985, the Gordon School has been a draw for children from throughout Miami-Dade, providing a rigorous yet nurturing education. Because The Center takes the mandate to teach our children seriously, the Early Childhood Center (ECC), K-5, and renowned Tikvah Center for Autism (collectively, the Gordon School) is at its heart.

To continue to be an academic anchor for Brickell, central Miami, and the greater Miami area, the Gordon School fuses the fundamentals of innovative pluralistic Jewish education with a 21st century curriculum. Our new building will provide state-of-the-art facilities for our growing community.*

Additional space to accommodate multiple classes per grade, digital learning tools, specialty classrooms, and expanded athletic facilities will ensure that all of our children blossom and receive an unparalleled education. We also will have the facilities for our children to continue their religious education after their b’nai mitzvah, through additional scholarship and volunteerism.*

Spirituality, Faith, & Inclusivity

The Center for Jewish Life provides opportunities to build upon our Jewish heritage, honor our legacy, impact the future, and allows us to share our traditions and core values, preserving them from generation to generation (L’dor V’dor). Judaism is a complex collection of varied approaches, perspectives, teachings and practices. At The Center, we come together to share and learn from those diverse voices to better understand the vastness that is Judaism and Jewish life today. It is our vision and approach that through a deeper understanding of and connection to all that Judaism is and has to offer, with all its complexities and differences, that we can better pave and shape our personal, familial, and communal Jewish journeys.

As our world faces more and more difficult times, it is the spirit of community and support that allows us to rise above these challenges. The Center for Jewish Life is more than just a building, it is a symbol of inclusivity; the go-to gathering place, and the center of a thriving Jewish community.  The heart and spirit of Central Miami lies within us, and it is with this spirit that we embark on this journey to build a shared place of transformation and hope.
